What is Butcher Box?
Butcher Box is a food subscription service that - much like all the others - delivers ready-to-cook meals directly to your door for a monthly fee.
This subscription specializes in shipping roughly 24 meals per month filled with 100% grass-fed beef, organic free-range chicken, and/or heritage bred pork in 5 different box plans (more info on those below.)
The Custom Box costs a little more than the other four, but offers more meat. Plus, while the cuts you receive in those boxes are selected by curators, the Custom Box gives you the ability to select your own cuts.
The prices and amount of meats in the plans above are all relative to Butcher Box's "Classic Box" Each of them can be upgraded to a "Big Box" which doubles the amount of meat you receive at a little less than twice the price.
They also allow you to add other meats like bacon to whichever subscription you choose (for a little extra cash, of course.)
And if you're a college student...
...Butcher Box has partnered with UniDays, which will save you $20 on every box, plus you get free bacon!
Finally, they ship all their meats with dry ice which ensures they stay cool while in transit. If the dry ice evaporates completely and your meat isn't cold to the touch, contact customer service and they'll replace and re-ship your order free of charge (but this isn't a normal occurrence so don't worry too much about it.)

Butcher Box Reviews
On the surface, this subscription is a great deal with plenty of sustainable-raised meats to choose from...
...and below the surface, it's still a great food subscription service.
With a large number of customization options to choose from, you're sure to get only the meats you want at a competitive price for a food subscription box.
Of course, for some people, it might be easier to simply go to the store and buy their meats, but for many of you, this box has plenty of reasons, it's worth giving a try.
Things To Love About Butcher Box
Butcher Box has a lot to love. Check them out.
Here are 4 things to love about Butcher Box:
1. Responsibly Raised Meats, Sustainable Packaging
Do you know where your meat comes from? If you try Butcher Box, you will.
Butcher Box's beef comes from Australian and US-raised Cows that are free to roam and feed on their natural diet, grass. They have access to shelter and are NEVER kept in feedlots. Their chickens are free-range instead of locked in cages, and aren't pumped full of antibiotics and growth hormones. Plus, they're certified non-GMO!
The Heritage Breed Pigs that Butcher Box's pork comes from are fed an all vegetarian diet with no animal byproducts (the bacon you get from the grocery store probably has some of those though!). And if the way Butcher Box's meats are prepared isn't enough to get you interested, 95% of the packaging those meats come in can be placed in your recycling bin.
With humanely-raised animals and sustainable packaging, you can rest easy knowing that Butcher Box cares about the environment just as much as you might.
2. College Kids Save
Well if you're a college student and are thinking about giving Butcher Box a try, here are some good news! You can save $20 on every box you get from Butcher Box AND get free bacon in every box.
The popular app made specifically for students, UniDays has partnered with Butcher Box to offer sweet deals on their food subscription service. Check it out if you're a student and want to save some cash!
3. So Many Choices
Do you want Chicken? Beef? Pork? Salmon? Lamb? Or would you rather try all of them?...
... well with Butcher Box's almost unlimited customization options, you can get whatever meats you want! Here's a quick breakdown of each of their boxes:
The All Beef Box - 8-10 lbs. @ $129/month
The Beef & Chicken Box - 8.5-11 lbs. @ $129/month
The Beef & Pork Box - 8-11 lbs. @ $129/month
The Mixed Box - 8.5-11 lbs. @ $129/month (beef, pork and chicken)
The Custom Box - 9-14 lbs. @ $149/month (this one ships 30 meals instead of 24)
You can double the amount of meats in any of these boxes by upgrading the standard size (above) to The Big Box option for a little less than double the price of the standard boxes.
And if you STILL can't get enough meat, Butcher Box allows you to add on as many extra cuts as you like for a little extra cash. Be careful with add-ons though... They renew each month unless you remove them from your box using the website.

Butcher Box Reviews: Things We Don’t Love about Butcher Box
Nothing's perfect... Luckily, Butcher Box's downfalls aren't really that bad.
1. Promo Codes
The only time Butcher Box allows you to use a promo code is with your first order.
This is common with most subscription box services, but it's still a bummer there aren't more chances for more codes...
2. The Price
Meat ain't cheap! And if you're on a tight budget, you're probably not going to be able to spend $129 worth of quality meat every month.
