What is Bespoke Post?

Bespoke Post is a subscription box for men that ships manly - and more importantly - USEFUL items to your door every month. The items come from both American manufacturers as well as overseas manufacturers.

It was founded in 2012 by two MBA grads from Northwestern University, Steven Szaronos and Rishi Prabhu and has been growing exponentially ever since.

And having shipped out over 240 unique boxes over the course of 6+ years... It's pretty safe to say that the team at Bespoke Post know what their members want to unbox.

And that's a big reason why when you sign up for Bespoke Post, they ask you what you like.

NOBODY wants to pay for something that'll sit unused in a drawer for the next 20 years. And with Bespoke Post...

You really don't have to worry about that.

4 Things To Love About Bespoke Post

Bespoke Post's boxes are, according to their website, "Themed boxes for guys who give a damn."

And they're spot on with that statement.

1. The Stuff

Each box is filled with $70+ worth of items that follow a specific theme, which gives the box its title (for instance, there's a box called Carve that comes with a kit you can use to make your own one-of-a-kind knife.)

But wait... Bespoke Post boxes only cost $45 don't they? Yes, they do. You don't need to be a mathematician to figure out how much money you'll save by becoming a member (but during our research, we found that Bespoke Post doesn't hike up their prices like other subscription box services.)

And the items in these fancy themed boxes aren't garbage either... They're quality pieces of equipment, some from trusted brands, others from artisan brands you've never even heard of.

But the best part? You'll actually USE the stuff you get... AND look ridiculously manly while using it (most of the stuff looks like it came right out of Ron Swanson's cabin.)

2. YOU Have the Power (To pick the perfect box)

Before you sign up for Bespoke Post, they ask you to fill out a quick survey to see what types of items you like, don't like, and would be willing to try.

After you fill out your questionnaire, it's 5 days before boxes ship, you'll get an email with the box selections for the month.

You have those 5 days to review some specifics...

You can select a different box other than the one they picked for you, or change a few things like colors and items... OR simply skip receiving a box for the month entirely if you don't see something you like (at no extra charge! You'll get your next box next month.)

So... If you don't like cigars... You'll never have to open a box filled with cigars. Convenient, huh?

3. You Don't NEED to Be a Member to Get Great Gear

Even if eagerly anticipating a new box every month isn't for you, don't worry!

Because in addition to being able to buy any box outright without having to become a member (boxes cost $10 extra if you're NOT a member)...

You can also purchase plenty of items that fit the Bespoke Post aesthetic from the shop section of their website.

And really... You can take care of most of your home shopping needs there. They have kitchen supplies, outdoorsman gear, swim trunks, home decor, stuff for your workshop, alcohol-related goodies, and even Daft Punk and MGMT vinyl records for sale.

So whether you want to make your home more girl-friendly (AKA more refined and fancy looking) or you need some new duds for the weekend, skip Amazon and give Bespoke Post a try.

Because even if you don't find something YOU like... You might find the perfect gift for one of your buddies.

4. Commitment to Customer Satisfaction

Right off the bat, it's clear that the people at Bespoke Post work EXTREMELY hard to make sure their members are happy.

And that's because those 6 years of being in business have helped them refine their business model and policies to ensure they can always help their customers out if something goes wrong (which happens from time to time because everybody makes the occasional mistake.)

As for returns... Most products and boxes are returnable within 60 days of placing your order. For boxes, the entire box must be returned, while products must be returned in their original packaging and in mint condition. And unfortunately, there are a few items that they can't accept returns for (but not many!)

FREE standard shipping is applied to any orders over $45, so when you become a member, it's always a flat rate! (This depends on where you live, of course. But more on that below.)

2 Things Not to Love about Bespoke Post

There isn't much not to love about a Bespoke Post because, well... They do a LOT of things right. But there are a few minor drawbacks that some consumers might not appreciate.

1. Non-Guaranteed Delivery Dates

Bespoke Post ships all their boxes between the 6th and 15th of each month, but once it leaves their shipping dock, your box's safety is completely out of their control.

That's because shipping companies assume responsibility for packages once they physically have them. That's logistics... And logistics can get REALLY crazy fast. (If you've ever waited on a package around Christmas, you understand.)

So sometimes a carrier's schedule changes unexpectedly but this isn't really a problem with Bespoke Post.

2. Individual Items in Boxes Can't Be Returned

Their reason is that the boxes come as one package, and it's the best way for them to ensure you only pay $45 for each box (shipping isn't cheap!)

So if you end up disliking one of your items, give it a go anyhow! You might surprise yourself with how much you actually like it. If all else fails... Just gift it to someone else!

Pros vs Cons of Bespoke Post

Pros

  • Unique and useful items
  • Helpful advice on how to properly use some of the items you receive (in some instances, you'll need it.)
  • A blog with plenty of helpful articles based around the items you receive
  • The ability to opt-out of a box
  • Free shipping
  • Prices of items aren't inflated over the MSRP

Cons

  • Delivery dates aren't guaranteed
  • Boxes come in a kit and individual items cannot be returned
  • You can only sign up for the month-to-month subscription (no 3-month/6-month, etc. like other subscription services)

Is Bespoke Post worth it?

At the end of the day, will you be happy when you open up a box from Bespoke Post?

Yes!

The simple fact that you can opt-out of a box you don't want takes ALL of the guesswork out of what you're getting.

Top that with some seriously high-quality goods and the fact that you're actually getting a good deal on each box and you've got yourself a fairly priced subscription box that's well worth the money.

How to Join Bespoke Post

Becoming a member of this subscription box is simple and kind of fun if you like filling out questionnaires. Speaking of which...

1. Fill out your Questionnaire

When you click on "Get Started" on the website (it's in the top right-hand corner), you'll be asked about which of 10 types of items you want them to send you. Your options are:

  • Open to Try
  • Not interested

You'll also have to provide your waist, shirt, and shoe sizes as well as your date of birth (but only if you want to get clothing and tobacco in your boxes.)

And if you're a bad test-taker, don't worry! You can't fail this one.

2. Create an Account

After you answer the questions, you'll be taken to a page where you can fill in your name, email address, create a password, and share where you heard about the box.

Once you complete this page, you'll have created an account! But there are a few more things you need to do first.

3. Enter Shipping and Billing Details

4. Get Pumped

Your box will ship between the 6th and 15th of each month. Try not to be too impatient.
